early-miocene gastropods from khavich area, south of sirjan, (kerman, iran): biostratigraphy, paleogeography and paleoecology

چکیده
a total of 12 species of marine gastropods, among which two taxa are new, is reported for the first time from the miocene deposits of khavich section, south of sirjan, kerman. gastropods assemblage in khavich area indicates deposition in shallow, warm ramp-type carbonate platform. the miocene and even oligocene gastropod assemblages, relatively similar to khavich section, reported from the other parts of the tethys, show a possible passage, having been open during this interval, although a considerable provincialisms is also evident. therefore the gastropods can be used for the correlation of oligo-miocene age formations in many places in the region and the world.

متن کاملQuantitative analysis, basin evolution and paleoecology of Early Miocene ostracods in the southwest of Kerman, Iran
This paper focuses on the quantitative analyses of Early Miocene ostracods in south and north of the Sirjan area, southwest of Kerman. Detailed studies resulted in identification of 23 species of ostracoda. The coexisting benthic foraminifera and comparing the identified microfauna assemblages with previous studies confirms the Early Miocene age for the strata. The quantitative analysis show a ...
متن کاملbiostratigraphy and paleoecology of early miocene deposits in gefriz section (south west of kerman) based on benthic foraminifera
in order to study the biostratigraphy and paleoecology of the early miocene in south west of kerman province, one section (gefriz) has been chosen, measured and sampled. the thickness of measured section is about 67 m. it consists mainly of thin to thick bedded limestone and marl. at this section, the early miocene deposits nonconformably lie between volcano sedimentary eocene at the base, and ...
متن کاملEarly Miocene reef- and mudflat-associated gastropods from Makran (SE-Iran)
A new gastropod fauna of Burdigalian (early Miocene) age is described from the Iranian part of Makran. The fauna comprises 19 species and represents three distinct assemblages from turbid water coral reef, shallow subtidal soft-bottom and mangrove-fringed mudflat environments in the northern Indian Ocean. Especially the reef-associated assemblage comprises largely new species. This is explained...

model ages for diatom biostratigraphic datum levels and new magnetic polarity data, which enables assessment of a nearly continuous record of paleoenvironmental change from ~20.25 to 13.75 Ma, and the dating of specific paleoenvironmental events identified in the diatom record. This study spans stratigraphically from the lowest occurrence of Thalassiosria spinosa var. aspinosa (~20.26 Ma) up to...
متن کاملPaleoecology of Early to Middle Miocene Deposits (Guri Member) and Sedimentary Environment, SE Zagros Zone, Roydar, Iran
This research focusses on the facies distribution, paleoenvironment and paleoecology of the foraminifera of the Guri Member in the northern Bandar Abbas Hinterland located in the Roydar area of southern Iran. The Guri Member is 570 meters thick and composed of limestone, argillaceous limestone and marl. The distribution of the foraminifera in the study area indicates the existence of three bioz...
